Wereldwinkel Zoetermeer is committed to creating a better world, with respect for people and the environment. As a volunteer organisation, we dedicate our time and efforts to improving the daily lives of as many people as possible. Naturally, we treat your personal data with that same respect.

Why we process personal data

Wereldwinkel Zoetermeer processes personal data that you provide to us for the following purposes:

To accept orders from you through our online store
To deliver ordered products to you
To call or email you in order to provide our services
To send you newsletters, if you have consented to receiving them
To analyse customer behaviour in order to improve our website, product range and services

These activities are carried out on the basis of one of the following legal grounds:

We expressly do not use your personal data for commercial marketing purposes. We don't like that. And you probably don't either.

Personal data we process

Wereldwinkel Zoetermeer only processes personal data that you provide to us:

First and last name
Address details
Telephone number
Email address
Other personal data that you actively provide or that is generated when you use our website, place orders or make payments.
Anonymised data about your activities on our website, internet browser and device type

We use Shopify Payments and Mollie to process online payments. Shopify Payments handles most of our online payments. For the time being, we use Mollie for iDEAL payments.

When you make an online payment, these payment service providers process the personal and payment information necessary to carry out the transaction securely. Wereldwinkel Zoetermeer does not process complete payment card details itself. However, we do receive and process the information needed to verify payments and manage orders, such as payment statuses and transaction details.

Our website and/or services are not intended to collect personal data about persons under the age of 16. If you become aware that a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@wereldwinkelzoetermeer.nl, so we can delete the data.

How long do we retain your personal data?

Wereldwinkel Zoetermeer does not retain personal data for longer than necessary. Account data is deleted after you delete your account, unless a statutory retention obligation applies. We retain order and invoice data for the statutory tax retention period of seven years. Newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe.

Sharing personal data with third parties

We only disclose personal data to third parties when this is necessary for the performance of an agreement or to comply with a legal obligation.

We use Shopify as our e-commerce platform. Shopify processes your personal data on our behalf in order to provide the online store, process orders and ensure the security of the website. Arrangements have been made with Shopify regarding the careful processing of personal data. More information can be found in Shopify's Privacy Policy. Shopify may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Shopify takes appropriate measures in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to ensure that your personal data is adequately protected.

We use Shopify Payments and Mollie B.V. to process online payments. Shopify Payments handles most of our online payments, while Mollie is used for iDEAL payments.

When you make an online payment, the relevant payment service provider processes the personal data necessary to carry out, secure and administratively manage the payment. Other parties involved in processing the payment, such as banks and payment card networks, may also receive the information necessary to complete the transaction.

Where these parties process personal data as independent data controllers, their own privacy policies apply.

In addition to Shopify and Mollie, where applicable, we share data with PostNL for the purpose of delivering your order.

We never make your personal data available to third parties for commercial purposes.

Cookies

We use functional cookies and privacy-friendly analytics cookies. For cookies that legally require consent, we ask for your consent in advance via our cookie banner.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your personal data

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict its processing, object to its processing, withdraw your consent and exercise your right to data portability.

We will respond to your request within one month at the latest. If identification is necessary, we recommend using the Dutch government's KopieID app and concealing any sensitive information that is not required for identification.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
